Hello and welcome friends of the Wider Web!
Tragic world events and a dire climate report have pushed other information from my mind and feeds so it has been hard both emotionally and tactically to gather news of the Wider Web and Agreement Bedrock. As a result, today’s issue will be short and light.
Breath into the bottom of your lungs, loosen the muscles in your face, and shake the tension out of your arms because it’s time for another issue of the Transmutable News Weekly.
Opportunities for support
A small team of dinosaur enthusiasts (who were so preoccupied with whether they could, they didn’t stop to think if they should) released Prehistoric Domain that is essentially a Wider Web Jurassic Park.
This week’s Vhite Rabbit podcast features an interview with Dave Hill, an engineering manager for the Oculus Browser which is by far the most used immersive web browser with the most complete implementation of WebXR and related APIs. Vhite Rabbit is the maker of a Wider Web experience aggregator, Construct Arcade. Other episodes in the podcast include interviews with additional members of our community like Ada Rose Cannon and Brandon Jones.
The New Yorker ran a piece from Anna Wiener about the emotional burden that arrived with the financialization of the metaverse. As we build an Agreement Bedrock we must include more verbs than “buy” and “sell”.
Ruben van der Leun (maker of virtual desktop ViRTC) published a starter project for Wider Web apps that run on the Rogue Engine. The Rogue examples are a good place to get a feel for the capabilities of the engine.
Stay open, friends.
